Baking Soda

Baking Soda is also known as sodium bicarbonate and bicarbonate of soda. Its a leavening agent used in many baked goods, such as cookies, cakes and muffins.

You can store baking soda unopened, at room temperature for up to 18 months.

After opening, it will store at room temperature for about 6 months for the best quality.

To test if your baking soda is still active, spoon some into a bowl, and add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar. If it starts to fizz immediately and vigorously, the baking soda will still work well in your recipes.
