Glycerin And Stearic Hand Cream Recipe | Keldons Cookery

Nutritional Values (per serving)

This protective hand cream offers an old-fashioned way to soften very rough skin using traditional ingredients. Combining thick stearic acid with deep moisture from glycerin creates a wonderful barrier against harsh weather. A classic touch of ammonia helps turn the rich oils into a smooth, creamy lotion right in your slow cooker. Crafting your own skincare is highly rewarding and keeps your skin feeling smooth.

Directions:

Warning: This formula uses household ammonia. Work in a well-ventilated room with windows open. Avoid breathing in the fumes directly. Do not use any metal pots, metal bowls, or metal stirring utensils during preparation, as ammonia reacts badly with metals.

1. Melt: Place 1 1/4 cups of Stearic Acid, 12 ounces of Glycerin, and 1/2 teaspoon of grated Paraffin Wax into a crockpot. Set the crockpot to low heat and let the mixture melt completely, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon.

2. Blend: Carefully add 1 ounce of Ammonia to the crockpot. Stir briskly with a wooden spoon until the mixture begins to look slightly milky.

3. Dissolve: In a separate non-metal container, mix 1/2 teaspoon of Borax into 2 cups of warm Water until it is fully dissolved.

4. Pour: Gradually add the dissolved water mixture into the crockpot, stirring continuously to combine.

5. Cool: Remove the crockpot liner safely away from the heat source.

6. Whip: Using an electric mixer set to low speed, beat the warm mixture thoroughly until the texture looks exactly like whipped cream.

7. Rest: Allow the cream to cool down to room temperature so that it can thicken and set completely.

8. Scent: Once cooled, add 2 teaspoons of Body Lotion, a few drops of your favorite perfume, and a bit of colorant if you want to customize it.

9. Stir: Mix the perfume, colorant, and Body Lotion into the thick cream thoroughly.

10. Jar: Transfer your finished cream into clean, dry glass jars or plastic containers with tight-sealing lids.

11. Store: Keep your hand cream containers sealed tightly in a cool, dry place.

12. Shelf Life: This will keep for 6 to 12 months in a tightly sealed container.

13. Protect: Avoid using any metal utensils or metal storage containers later on, as metal reacts poorly with the remaining ingredients.

14. Apply: Rub a small dab into dry hands to seal in deep moisture!

For the best volume and texture in whipped cream, make sure the whipping cream is well chilled before you start. You can also chill the bowl and beaters for even better results. This simple hack raises the cream's ability to whip up nicely and hold its shape, making your desserts look and taste divine.
