Baking Powder Biscuits

Ingredients are for 12 Portions

Ingredients:

4 teaspoons Baking Powder
2 cups All-purpose Flour
2 teaspoons Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cream Of Tartar
1/2 cup Shortening » cold, cubed
2/3 cup Milk
Prep Time Process Time Overall Time
15 Minutes 15 Minutes 30 minutes
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F / 200°C / Gas Mark 6

1. Sift together baking powder, flour, sugar, salt and cream of tartar.

2. Cut shortening into dry mixture with a pastry blender until mealy.

3. Make a well in the center of the mixture and add milk, stir to blend.

4. Turn out onto a lightly floured pastry board and knead 8 times.

5. Roll out and cut with a cookie cutter.

6. Place on cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
