Star Fruit is a unique fruit with a thin waxy skin. It has five deep grooves that form a charming star shape when sliced. No need to peel or seed it, simply enjoy star fruit out of hand.
It's very easy to recognize, it's about two to five inches in length. With a pleasantly citric taste, this attractive fruit has been described as a combination of plum, pineapple, apple, lemon and grape.
When ripened to yellow, it's crisp texture offers a sweet-tart juice. The narrow ribbed fruits generally have a more tart flavor; thick fleshy ribs are usually sweet.
Add to fruit and vegetable salads. Blend with avocado, kiwis, mangoes and bananas. Puree with other fruits for refreshing ices, mousses and sherbets.
A good rule of thumb for freezing spaghetti is to slightly undercook it before freezing. This helps maintain a better texture when reheated. Making sure each noodle is well-coated with olive oil or spaghetti sauce can also prevent clumping and freezer burn.
