Substitutions: For this recipe you can substitute jojoba oil or fractionated coconut oil for the sweet almond oil.
1. Warning: This product is strictly for external bath use only. Do not ingest, and keep out of reach of children and household pets.
2. Combine: In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup of baking soda, 2 tablespoons of citric acid, 1 tablespoon of borax, and 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar until thoroughly blended.
3. Moisten: Slowly drizzle 2 tablespoons of sweet almond oil over the dry ingredients, stirring steadily until the mixture resembles uniform damp sand.
4. Scent: Add 1 teaspoon of vitamin E oil and 1/4 teaspoon of essential oils directly to the bowl.
5. Blend: Work the mixture firmly with your hands or a spatula until the oils distribute evenly and the powder holds together tightly when compressed.
6. Shape: Scoop out teaspoon-sized portions of the blended mixture and roll firmly between your palms to shape compact, round beads.
7. Line: Arrange the shaped beads in a single layer across a sheet of clean wax paper.
8. Rest: Leave the beads untouched on the wax paper for 2 to 3 hours to establish their form.
9. Reshape: Lightly inspect each bead and roll gently between your palms to remove any flat spots caused by resting.
10. Dry: Allow the beads to cure in a dry, low-humidity room for roughly 10 days until completely hard and solid.
11. Protect: Transfer the hardened beads into a clean, airtight jar or container away from bathroom moisture.
12. Use: Drop 1 or 2 beads directly into hot running bathwater to disperse the rich oils and gentle fizz.
13. Shelf Life: Store in an airtight container away from moisture for up to 6 months.
14. Relax: Unwind in warm, fragrant water and feel your skin soften.
To make sure your eggs are fresh and safe to eat, use a simple water test. Submerge your egg in a bowl of water: fresh eggs will sink to the bottom, while older, less fresh eggs float. This easy hack helps you determine quickly an egg's freshness before use.
